Well it’s the off season and Carbon Racing has been going to the cyclocross races….
October 4, 2009, at the Leroy Township Cyclocross Race, where race conditions were muddy, muddy, Carbon Racing was represented in the Men’s A field by Dan Quinlan and Ray Huang who raced aggressively to hold their top 10 positions with Dan finishing in 8th place and Ray finishing in 10th place. Samantha House raced in the Women’s field and finished 4th.
October 3, 2009, at the Cap City Cross Races, Carbon Racing’s newest rider, Greg Flecher, finished 7th in the Men’s A field. According to other riders, this was a fun course with a few hairy technical sections.
September 27, 2009, Carbon Racing’s Dan Quinlan and Samantha House went to race in the Raccoon Township CX race which is part of the Month of Mud Series. Unfortunately, some confusion regarding the start times on one of the flyers had Dan missing the Men’s A race. Samantha went on to race in the Women’s B Sport Class and grabbed a win!
September 26, 2009, Stark Velo hosted their first ever cross race (part of Team Lake Effect’s Cross Series). The rain, wind, and even lightening didn’t keep the racers away! Carbon Racing had a full team with Dan Quinlan, Greg Flecher, and Ray Huang racing in the Men’s A field. The guys finished 7th, 6th, and 11th respectively. Not too bad for a bunch of roadies! Samantha House raced in the Women’s field and finished in 2nd.
Early September the team saw some cross action with Ray and Samantha racing at Wendy Park (part of Team Lake Effect’s Cross Series). Ray raced in the Men’s A field and finished 10th and Samantha raced in the Women’s field and finished 4th. In the Heath CX race, Greg Flecher raced to a win in the Men’s B field in his first cross race of the season. Congratulations Greg!
