Brian Batke is the sole representative of Carbon Racing during SUPERWEEK in the men’s 40+ field. Brian has been updating the team with some of the excitement. We recently received this update from him regarding the Whitehall Park Criterium (http://www.internationalcycling.com/raceresults.php?year=2009&race=1165) where Brian finished an impressive 2nd!!
”I figured something was going to get away due to the smaller field size. I ended up going with early moves again and found myself off the front in one move or another from about lap 3 onward. First I was off with a small group, then a group of 3, and due to the pace found myself solo for quite a while. I had about 20 seconds at one point but couldn’t push it past that. Eventually I got caught with about 7 to go, then I just kept following the attacks. Then finally with 2 to go followed an attack and we had 3 of us coming in to the finish. After so much time out front, my sprint wasn’t going to be all that strong, but I managed to hold off Dewey Dickey (MERCY CYCLING TEAM/ Specialized) for 2nd place.
