Carbon Racing has been very active at the Race At The Lakes Series, sponsored by Summit Freewheelers. The first of the series on April 17, 2010 Carbon Racing had almost the entire men’s squad present. The team delivered a 2nd place podium spot via Matt Weeks. Dan Quinlan was 6th, Ray Huang was 8th, Brian Batke was 9th and Jared, Josh, Greg, and Tris finished in the field. Shawn Adams had an unfortunate flat tire and had to DNF. Samantha Brode (House) raced in the Women’s field finishing 3rd with Sally Price, Team Summa, taking the win.
On Sunday April 18th, Brian Batke, Tris Hopkins, Shawn Adams, Matt Weeks, Jared Durieux, Tom Freuh, and Samantha Brode (House) lined up to compete in the A race at Team Akron’s Spring Training Race Series. Brian Batke finished with a 2nd place podium spot while Tris, Samantha, and Shawn DNF’d and Matt, Jared and Tom finished in the field.
Tuesday, April 21st, was the very first day of the Westlake Training Series or Westlake Worlds as they are often referred to by local racers. Carbon’s Shawn Adams, Brian Batke, Jared Durieux, and Samantha Brode (House) lined up in the A field to race. Shawn snagged 1st place, Brian finished 5th, Jared and Sam finished in the field. Congratulations on the win Carbon!!
The second race of RATL (Race At The Lakes) was held on April 24, 2010. This was the debut return of new mother and women’s team racer, Erin Quinlan. Erin and Samantha Brode (House) raced in the Women’s field. Samantha won and Erin grabbed the 3rd place podium spot. The Men’s squad racers Brian Batke, Shawn Adams, Tris Hopkins, Dan Quinlan, Matt Weeks, Jared Durieux, and Tom Freuh raced in the Men’s 1/2/3 field. Shawn was 3rd, Brian was 4th, Tris was 7th, Dan was 8th, Matt was 11th, Jared and Tom both finished in the field. Full RATL results can be found here.
On that following Sunday April 25, 2010, Carbon Racers Tris Hopkins, Shawn Adams, Brian Batke, and Jared Durieux raced in the A field. Carbon Racer Tris Hopkins rolled away at the end of the race with a well timed attack to take the win!! Shawn, Brian, and Jared finished int the field. Congratulations Team Carbon!
The April 27, 2010 Westlake Training Series had a smaller contingent of Carbon Racers in it, but Shawn Adams still snagged a 2nd place finish! Brian Batke, Tom Freuh, and Samantha Brode (House) also raced with Brian finishing 5th. Tom and Samantha finished in the field. Full Westlake results are available from our website.
