On Sunday, December 6, 2009, Team Lake Effect held the last race of the cross series, Boughton Farms. The Boughton Farms course is traditionally a very muddy, gruelling course and last Sunday proved to be nothing out of the ordinary for this venue although it did lack the occasional snow this venue has often experienced. In the Women’s 1/2/3 race, Samantha House was hoping her bike would hold up and not fall victim to the many mud crusted broken derailers that the claimed at least eight victims overall. A double win weekend is always a cause to smile! In the Men’s 1/2/3 race, Dan Quinlan was also hoping for a win to secure a place in the overall series podium. Dan got a great start to the race and held his position for a 3rd place finish! Dan Quinlan finished 5th place in the overall series for the Men’s 1/2/3 with Matt Weeks (Team Lake Effect) securing the overall series win. Samantha House finished 2nd in the Women’s 1/2/3 overall series with Leah Halloran (Spin) holding on to that top podium position. Congratulations to all of the participants and many thanks to Team Lake Effect for a safe, fun, cross series!
On Saturday, December 5, 2009, the venue was dry and sunny although it was also a chilly 35 degrees. Samantha House was the sole representative of Carbon Racing racing in the Cap City Cyclocross Series held at Smith Farm by Team Awesome. Samantha raced in the Women’s Elite field and finished the day with a win!
There is one more race left in the Cap City Series for all of you crossers out there who just can’t get enough. Also keep your eyes posted for the Winter Trophy Series another local venue sponsored by FS Concepts Coaching.
