Carbon Racing Gets Muddy In Murrysville

Carbon Racing’s Dan Quinlan and Samantha House had a good weekend of cross racing at two great races in Pennsylvania.   On Saturday October 24, 2009, the duo raced at the Murrysville Cyclocross race sponsored by Freddie Fu Cycling.  Dan raced a “dirty” race in the Men’s 1/2/3 field which was won by Mike Mihalik (Freddie Fu) while Dan finished 9th.   Samantha raced in the Women’s field in a slightly less “dirty” race finishing 2nd.  The women’s race was won by Betsy Shogren (Cannondale).   Fellow racer Julie Lewis-Sroka (Team Lake Effect) showed everyone what true suffering is when she wrecked during the race and decided to finish it although her ankle was clearly injured.  She later found out that she broke her leg!    Best wishes to Julie for a speedy recovery!

On Sunday October 25, 2009, Carbon Racing headed to Beaver, PA to the last edition of Raccoon Cyclocross sponsored by Beaver Valley Velo. Conditions were considerably improved over the prior day’s race course with some actual ”dry” areas with limited mud.  Samantha raced in the Women’s race finishing 2nd with Betsy Shogren (Cannondale) taking the win.  Dan raced in the Men’s 1/2/3 field where he finished in 8th place with Matt Weeks (Team Lake Effect) took the win.
