“Got Milk?” Carbon Wins At Local Favorites

Wow, it has been an exciting past couple of weeks!   Carbon has posted 4 solid wins over these past two weeks.

On Saturday August 8th, Dan Quinlan and Brian Batke raced at the Garrett Wonders Memorial Criterium in Westerville, Ohio.  Dan was reportedly working the front quite a bit with Jeremy Grimm (RGF-Panther) and Brian attacked repeatedly to try to create a break.  Dan took a gamble on the “gambler’s prime” with two to go but unfortunately was barely nipped at the line by Jeremy Grimm.   The gamble almost paid off with the duo holding on with one more corner left before being overtaken by the field.   Dan finished in 10th place and Brian finished in the field.

On Sunday August 9th, Tom Freuh lined up in the Master’s field at the Orrville Milk Race and held off the pack and took the win!   In the 2/3 field, Tris Hopkins and Ray Huang were ready to race but unfortunately Ray suffered his second consecutive week of getting a flat during the race.   Tris was reportedly a marked man because every attempt he made at creating that winning break was covered by other teams.    Samantha took the win in the Women’s open field after a late race attempt at getting away from her breakaway companions failed.

On Sunday August 2nd, Dan Quinlan, Tris Hopkins, Ray Huang, Brian Batke, Shawn Adams, and Matt Weeks raced in the 1/2/3 field at the  Zoar Road Race hosted by Stark Velo Cycling Team.   Matt was involved in a 5-up sprint that was neutralized due to an emergency vehicle on the course.   The officials gave all 5 of the competitors a first place finish!    Shawn took the field sprint for 7th, Tris was 13th, and Dan Quinlan was 14th after an impressive lap 4 attack.     Samantha House (Brode) raced in the Women’s open field.  Sam was part of a 3-woman breakaway group grabbing the win in a sprint with her breakaway companions.

Carbon Racing would like to thank both Stark Velo and the Orrville Cycling Team for hosting these local races, The Zoar Road Race and Orrville Milk Race .   Both venues were very fun, very safe, and extremely well run.   Thanks to both of these teams for their effort in organizing and hosting these events!
